WELCOME TO DEJA POO!

I'm Poojana Dandeniya, a Sri Lankan actor working across stage, television, and film. My journey began in 2011 as an amateur and since then, I've been driven by a passion for telling stories that challenge me and connect with audiences. My foundation was built at the renowned Somalatha Subasinghe Playhouse, where rigorous theatre training and invaluable mentorship shaped my craft, strengthened my resilience, and opened the door to opportunities to collaborate with some of the industry's most respected veterans.

Over the years, I've had the opportunity to portray a wide range of characters across all three mediums, with highlights including Sakarma—for which I received the Best Supporting Actor Award in 2021, Giri Devi, Once Upon a Time in Colombo—another Special Jury Award in 2022, and Stage Theatre Group's Walking Path, among many other memorable projects. Alongside acting, my passion for storytelling led me into directing, where I created the short tele film Thotamuna and the award-winning short film My Dear Fish Tank—a unique tale brought to life entirely by fish, with no human characters.

Then, in 2025, I took on one of the most demanding roles of my career as Desmond in Father—a biographical crime film set in the Gampaha district of Sri Lanka between 1976 and 1991, portraying the journey of a deeply religious young man whose life is gradually pulled into a violent criminal underworld. Seeing the film resonate with audiences and surpass LKR 100 million at the box office within just 17 days of its release in 2026 has been one of the most rewarding milestones of my journey so far.
